April 30, 2012, (Sawf News) - Selena Gomez will break out of her Disney girl role model image in her upcoming film 'Spring Breakers' and surprise her fans playing a character who is real and raw.
The film directed by Harmony Korine (famous for his timeless 90's movie "Kids"), is about three college girls (played by Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Benson) who finance their spring break vacation by ripping off a restaurant, only to end up behind bars. They then get involved with the person who posts their bail, an arms and drug runner (James Franco).
"It's really fun. It's completely different than anything I've done before," says Selena. [via MTV]
"People are going to be a little surprised, I think, by the choice. But it's such a good movie. It's real. It's raw. It's about actual spring break and it's just, they kind of take it to a whole other level."
Selena, who has taken time off from her singing career to focus on films this year, is thrilled to have worked with Korine, since the director has a way of extracting good performances from his actors.
"He just really allowed us to push ourselves, which was nice. He never said we did anything wrong. He just said it was a choice. He gave us these locations and just said, 'Act like you're on spring break.' "
