Selena Gomez has a surprising new duet partner, and it ainât her boy Justin Bieber, either. The âHit the Lightsâ singer is actually paired up with slain Tejana songbird Selena (Quintanilla Perez) on a new tribute album.
Gomez will sing along to Selenaâs hit âBidi Bidi Bom Bomâ on âEnamorada De Ti,â dedicated to the fallen star â" who, we should add, bears a striking resemblance and even a similar vocal quality to Gomezâs BFF Demi Lovato. Gomez revealed to JustJared (via E! Online) just how excited she was about the project.
âI was completely honored when they asked me to be on the tribute CD and when I went into the studio to record they actually had her vocals in the booth that she was in, so I felt like she was singing right next to me,â she said. âIt gave me chills! It was incredible and it was a great experience and it was a great song.â
Selenaâs family were equally thrilled with having Gomez on the track. âShe did an amazing job,â Selenaâs brother, A.B. Quintanilla, told E! News about Gomez at the Billboard Latin Music Awards. âI had the opportunity to talk to her, we did some awards together and I had never met her before in person,â he said, âand I took the opportunity to go say hello to her. And I want to thank her for coming onto the album.â So sweet!
Quintanilla also revealed a little known fact about Ms. Gomez: she was named after the âDreaming of Youâ singer! âShe was named after my sister. Thatâs pretty awesome,â Quintanilla said, âSelena with Selena. We want to thank all the Selena Gomez fans that have actually, theyâve been really, really at it just spreading the word. Hard core fans.â
