Are Demi Lovato & Selena Gomez No Longer Besties?! - PerezHilton.com

Selena Gomez Demi Lovato Not Close Friends

Earlier this week, we gave you a glimpse of Demi Lovato’s Self magazine cover story, where she got pretty candid about her physical and emotional issues, such as cutting.

Now, we have even more from that interview, including ALL the deets on her new judge role on X Factor, how her friendship with Selena Gomez is nowadays and being a role model!

Check out some more HIGHlights from DemDem’s interview:

So just what role does Demi think she falls into, in terms of her XF judging style?

Demi revealed:

“I root for everyone. I mean, it’s not the best feeling when you’re watching someone and cringing. But when a person’s confidence is magnetic, I don’t even have to hear her to think, Oh, this girl has got something.”

We SO can’t wait to see her on the show come September!!!

And what about her childhood bestie, Selena?

Lovato confessed:

“Selena and I aren’t as close as we used to be, but she’ll always have a place in my heart.”

SADSIES!!! They’ve been BFFs since their days of Barney & Friends and Disney’s Princess Protection Program!!! We SO vote for a Demi-Selena friendship revival!

Demi also opened up about taking a stand as a role model, stating:

“When I was younger, stick-figure thin was in and nobody was talking about eating disorders. I want girls to know that it’s OK when they grow up and their body changes. I want them to be aware that certain things they might do to lose weight can be dangerousâ€"life-threatening, even.”

We’re glad that Demi has been able to use her past struggles as a platform to raise awareness on body image issues, ESPECIALLY for the young girls who look up to her.

We give her so much credit for being courageous enough to share her story AND for opening up a conversation on such important topics.

Stay strong and Unbroken, Demi!!
